Walk the legendary Siq canyon to the Treasury façade, then explore the Royal Tombs, Colonnaded Street, and the Monastery with a dedicated expert — no crowds, no compromise. This is the single greatest archaeological site in the Arab world, and it demands a full day.
What to expect
Your private air-conditioned vehicle departs Aqaba port at first light for the 2-hour drive north through dramatic desert scenery. Entering through the narrow Siq, the first glimpse of Al-Khazneh (the Treasury) is a genuine gasp moment. Your guide brings the Nabataean history alive at each carved tomb and temple, and lunch is taken at a terrace restaurant inside the site. The return journey allows a sunset over Wadi Musa before arriving back comfortably before all-aboard.
Good to know
Pre-book well in advance — private guides fill quickly on port days. Allow a full 10–11 hours door-to-door. Wear serious walking shoes; the site involves 5–10 km of uneven terrain. Jordan Pass (purchased online in advance) bundles visa + Petra entry and saves money.
