Peel back the living layers of Aqaba — Mamluk castle, Ottoman souk, the oldest purpose-built mosque in the world, and a table laden with mezze, mansaf, and freshly-caught Red Sea fish — guided by a local historian who makes every alley tell a story.
What to expect
Your guide meets you at the port gate and leads you through the Mamluk Castle and its Archaeological Museum, into the atmospheric old souk fragrant with cardamom and dried limes. You visit the Sharif Hussein Bin Ali Mosque and hear the story of the Great Arab Revolt that launched from this very shore. The culinary highlight is a spread of Jordanian mezze and a freshly grilled fish lunch at a harbour-front restaurant favoured by local families. The tour concludes with Jordanian coffee and kanafeh at a traditional cafe.
Good to know
The entire experience is within walking distance of the cruise terminal — no vehicle needed. Ideal for guests who prefer a gentler half-day ashore or are saving energy before a big Petra day. Dress modestly (covered shoulders and knees) as you will enter a working mosque.
