Join Iceberg Alley Boat Tours for an intimate evening voyage through St. Anthony Bight, where the golden sub-Arctic light transforms drifting bergs into luminous sculptures and whales feed in the calm evening waters. An atmosphere unlike anywhere else on Earth.
What to expect
Depart from the St. Anthony harbour on a purpose-rigged tour vessel and head into the Bight where icebergs from the Greenland ice sheet have drifted south on the Labrador Current. Your experienced skipper narrates the natural history of the region while manoeuvring close to the great bergs — some the size of office buildings. Humpback whales are frequently encountered feeding on capelin in the evening hours, and the sub-Arctic light at golden hour gives the whole scene an otherworldly, painterly quality.
Good to know
Check departure times against your ship's all-aboard schedule — evening sailings may be tight depending on your port call length. Pre-booking is strongly recommended, especially in peak season (July–August). The harbour is a short, flat walk from the cruise pier. Dress warmly in layers; evening temperatures on the water can be surprisingly cold even in summer.
