Board the legendary Quebec North Shore & Labrador Railway — one of the world's great wilderness train rides — and plunge deep into boreal forest and sub-Arctic tundra that almost no road reaches. A truly rare journey through Canada's untamed interior.
What to expect
The train departs Sept-Îles and climbs into the Laurentian Shield, crossing wild rivers and vast boreal lakes in landscapes with no roads for hundreds of kilometres. Wildlife sightings — moose, caribou, osprey — are common. Innu community members travelling between remote villages share the carriages, lending the journey authentic, unhurried character. Even a partial journey delivers landscape drama of the highest order.
Good to know
This excursion requires very careful timing — confirm exact departure and return schedules against your ship's all-aboard time, as train delays in wilderness territory do occur. Best suited for longer port calls. Book seats directly with Tshiuetin Rail well in advance; capacity is limited. The Sept-Îles station is a short taxi ride from the pier.
