Sail the glittering waters of Puget Sound in search of orcas, humpback whales, Steller sea lions, harbor seals, and bald eagles — with a certified naturalist aboard to decode every sighting. The Pacific Northwest's most thrilling wildlife spectacle.
What to expect
Departing from the downtown waterfront, the vessel heads into the rich feeding grounds of the San Juan Islands corridor, where resident and transient orca pods hunt alongside porpoises and minke whales. The naturalist narrates every sighting, from the distinctive dorsal fins of Southern Resident orcas to the aerial acrobatics of bald eagles patrolling the shoreline. The surrounding scenery — snow-capped Olympic Mountains, forested islands, and deep blue sound — is spectacular in its own right. Refreshments are available on board for a civilized Pacific Northwest afternoon.
Good to know
Tours run approximately 3–4 hours. Depart from Pier 55/56 on the central waterfront, minutes from Pier 66. Bring a warm layer — Puget Sound can be brisk even in summer. Whale sightings are highly seasonal (peak: May–October); operators typically offer a return trip guarantee if whales are not spotted.
