Discover Kannesteinen — the iconic mushroom-shaped rock sculpted by 10,000 years of Atlantic surf — then journey to the remote Kråkenes Lighthouse perched at Norway's westernmost headland. Wild, elemental, and hauntingly beautiful.
What to expect
Your guide collects you from the port and drives along spectacular coastal road scenery to the beach at Kannesteinen, where the perfectly balanced, wave-carved boulder sits just metres from crashing surf. The guide explains the geological processes — and the Viking legends — attached to the stone. The route then continues to Kråkenes Lighthouse, an isolated 1906 beacon at land's end where the North Sea meets the Norwegian Sea; the headland walk here, with its crashing waves and vast horizon, is one of the great wild moments on the Norwegian coast. Binoculars are provided for seabird spotting.
