Enter a dragon's mouth and exit a tiger's to receive good fortune — the iconic Dragon and Tiger Pagodas rising from Lotus Pond are among Taiwan's most vivid and photographed spiritual landmarks. Walking the covered corridors lined with vivid folk-art murals is a full sensory spectacle.
What to expect
Your guide collects you at the pier and drives the 20-minute journey to Zuoying's Lotus Pond, a placid lake ringed with pagodas and pavilions. You'll thread through the serpentine corridor inside the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, photograph the iconic lakeside reflections at golden-hour light, and walk the painted causeway to the Spring and Autumn Pavilions. The guide then leads you to nearby Qing-era Zuoying Old City walls for historical context before returning to port.
Good to know
Best visited in the morning before heat and crowds build; plan to depart the pier by 08:30. Allow 3 hours. Entry is free; bring a hat and comfortable walking shoes. The guide can arrange a private vehicle throughout.
