Trek to the highest point in the BVI — Sage Mountain at 1,716 ft — through ancient rainforest draped in tree ferns, giant elephant ears, and mahogany. A certified local guide reveals endemic flora, bird life, and jaw-dropping 360° views across the entire Virgin Islands archipelago.
What to expect
A water taxi from Great Harbour delivers you to Road Town, Tortola, where your guide meets you for the short drive to the trailhead. The forest thickens immediately — cooling, fragrant, and alive with birdsong. Your guide identifies the kapok trees, the introduced mahogany, and the endemic Virgin Islands tree ferns as you ascend. At the summit clearing, the entire necklace of the BVI and USVI lays before you in brilliant technicolor. The descent opens views of Drake Channel glittering below. Total active time: 2.5–3 hours.
