Surrender to the centuries-old Ottoman hammam ritual — full-body marble steam, kese exfoliation and foam massage — at one of Kusadasi's finest historic bath houses, emerging renewed before reboarding.
What to expect
You enter through a domed stone antechamber and change into a traditional pestemal (cotton wrap) before being led into the warm marble central hall. The tellak (bath attendant) works systematically — steam opens the pores, the kese mitt sloughs away layers of skin, then a cascade of soapy foam and firm massage loosens every joint. The final cool-water rinse is electric. You emerge onto a marble slab for tea and rest, glowing and utterly relaxed — the perfect counterpoint to a morning at ancient ruins.
Good to know
Most Kusadasi hammams are within 10 minutes' walk of the pier. Book a 90-minute slot to avoid rushing. Wear or bring a swimsuit underneath; towels and pestemal are provided. Avoid heavy meals immediately before. This pairs beautifully as an afternoon experience after a morning at Ephesus.
