Captain Cook Monument Reef Catamaran Snorkel with Lunch

Sail into the sapphire waters of Kealakekua Bay Marine Sanctuary — accessible only by boat — to snorkel the Big Island's most pristine coral reef, teeming with spinner dolphins, reef fish, and Hawaiian green sea turtles.

What to expect

The boat departs Keauhou Bay and glides south along the Kona Coast, with humpback whale sightings common in season. At Kealakekua Bay you'll anchor at the Captain Cook Monument and slip into 20-foot visibility water above coral gardens alive with parrotfish, surgeonfish, and curious spinner dolphins. After 90 minutes of snorkelling, a generous Hawaiian plate lunch is served on deck. The return leg often features snorkelling a second site at Two-Step.

Good to know

Morning cruises depart ~9:00 AM from Keauhou Bay (a short taxi from Kona pier). All-aboard is typically late afternoon, giving comfortable margin. Bring biodegradable, reef-safe sunscreen — chemical sunscreens are banned in Hawaii waters. Book directly on Fair Wind's site; slots in peak season fill 2–3 weeks out.
