Reach two of the Pacific's most unspoiled beaches — Anaho, fringed by coral and sheltered by a green amphitheatre of peaks, and Ha'atuatua, a wild crescent of white sand virtually never reached by outsiders. Pure Marquesan paradise, earned by adventure.
What to expect
A scenic 4×4 drive northeast from Taiohae gives way to a short hike over a coastal ridge to Anaho Bay, where turquoise water laps over a pristine coral garden — snorkelling gear provided reveals butterflyfish and small reef sharks. A further walk along a wild headland path drops you onto the absolute seclusion of Ha'atuatua, a beach so remote it appears on few maps. Your guide lays out a picnic of local tropical fruit while you have the sand entirely to yourselves. The drive back traces the bay's ridge at golden hour.
Good to know
Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water — shade is limited at Ha'atuatua. The hike between bays is moderate (20–25 mins each way). Allow 5–6 hrs. Pre-book weeks ahead; this is one of the island's most requested private itineraries.
