Board a small charter aircraft and soar over the UNESCO-listed Nazca Lines — gigantic geoglyphs etched into the desert floor by an ancient civilisation, visible only from the air. The Spider, the Hummingbird, the Condor: a profound encounter with one of the world's great unsolved mysteries.
What to expect
The overland journey south to Nazca takes roughly 2.5 hours by private vehicle through the dramatic Ica desert, building anticipation beautifully. At the airfield you board a light aircraft with a narrating pilot who banks over the Astronaut, the Monkey, the Hummingbird and a dozen more figures in sequence. The 30-minute flight feels simultaneously too short and too overwhelming. After landing you can visit the Nazca Lines Viewing Tower and the Maria Reiche Museum before the return drive.
Good to know
This is a full-day commitment — depart port by 7 am, return by 5–6 pm. Confirm your ship's all-aboard time carefully and add buffer. Avoid a heavy breakfast before the flight (light turbulence is common). Book Aeroica flights directly well in advance, especially Nov–Mar peak season. Motion-sickness tablets recommended.
