Walk deep into one of Luzon's last old-growth rainforests with an indigenous Aeta guide who reads the jungle like a living library. Fire-making, medicinal plant lore, and ancient survival skills make this one of the Philippines' most authentic cultural encounters.
What to expect
The trail winds through cathedral-canopy rainforest where your Aeta guide points out medicinal herbs, edible plants, and tracks of monitor lizards and hornbills. Demonstrations of traditional fire-making using bamboo and forest materials are genuinely mesmerising. The forest was the backdrop for the U.S. Navy's jungle survival school, and echoes of that history add a fascinating layer. Cool, shaded, and remarkably peaceful — a total contrast to the port's activity.
