Maldives Reef: Private Manta Ray & Coral Dive with Marine Biologist

Slip beneath the gin-clear waters of a Maldivian atoll with a dedicated marine biologist guide for an intimate encounter with manta rays, whale sharks, and jewel-coloured coral gardens that define the Indian Ocean at its most magnificent.

What to expect

Board a traditional Maldivian dhoni at the marina and head to a known aggregation site — Hanifaru Bay or equivalent depending on season. Researchers brief you on manta behaviour before you enter the water. In the water, guides position the group for undisturbed, respectful observation; photo ID sheets help you 'meet' the individual animals. A packed Maldivian lunch is served on the dhoni on the return.

Good to know

Hanifaru Bay is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve; strict no-flipper, no-glove rules apply. Best manta aggregations are June–November. Book direct via MWSRP well in advance as spots are limited. Confirm your ship's all-aboard time and discuss with the operator — most half-day tours complete within five hours.
