Climb to the iconic summit of Padar Island — arguably the most photographed viewpoint in all of Indonesia — for a sweeping panorama of three colour-contrasting bays stretching to the horizon. A true bucket-list moment that demands to be seen in person.
What to expect
The trek to Padar's summit is a moderately challenging 30–45-minute climb up a well-marked volcanic ridge trail, rewarded at the top with one of Indonesia's most breathtaking panoramas: three separate bays — one with white sand, one pink, one black — fanning out below like a painted masterpiece. The surrounding seascape of Komodo National Park stretches endlessly in every direction. Your guide shares the geology and ecology of this UNESCO-listed landscape as you descend. The whole experience combines physical achievement with one of the most spectacular natural views on Earth.
Good to know
Padar is approximately 30 minutes by speedboat from Rinca. A sunrise departure maximises both light quality and solitude — highly recommended. The trail is rocky and steep in places; wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and bring water. Padar's national park entry is included in the IDR 500,000 Komodo National Park fee. The hike is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.
