Dive deep into authentic Fijian and Polynesian culture with a private village welcome, kava ceremony, and a lavish lovo feast prepared underground in the traditional manner. A rare, unhurried window into Pacific island life.
What to expect
You'll be welcomed with a traditional sevusevu ceremony and gifted a handwoven lei. The kava ritual is conducted with full reverence, and you'll participate rather than observe. The lovo feast — meats and root vegetables slow-cooked in an earth oven — is served on banana leaves under the shade of giant palms. The afternoon includes hands-on weaving and fire-making with village artisans.
Good to know
Lovo feasts require advance notice — book at least 48 hours prior. Cover shoulders and knees for village entry. Full day; confirm timing allows return before all-aboard. No pork alternative available on request.
