Step inside Lady Liberty's pedestal and crown — America's most iconic monument — then walk the solemn halls of Ellis Island where millions of immigrants first touched US soil. A profoundly moving piece of American history.
What to expect
The ferry departs from Battery Park, gliding past the Lower Manhattan skyline before docking at Liberty Island. Inside the pedestal museum, exhibits trace the statue's remarkable French-American construction and Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi's original torch (now on display). Crown ticket holders ascend the double-helix iron staircase — designed by Gustave Eiffel — for an intimate, staggering harbor view. At Ellis Island, the vast Registry Room and Wall of Honor tell the stories of 12 million immigrants who passed through these doors, many of whose descendants still live in America today.
Good to know
Crown tickets sell out months in advance — book the moment your itinerary is confirmed. Battery Park ferry terminal is approximately 30 minutes by taxi from Midtown piers. Allow a full 4–5 hours for both islands. Not suitable for guests with mobility limitations due to the steep crown staircase.
