Embark on a serious guided long hike deep into one of Scoresby Sund's inner fjord valleys — dramatic mountain walls, Arctic desert terrain, and a profound sense of solitude found nowhere else on Earth.
What to expect
This is a full-commitment hike for guests who want to earn their Arctic landscape. Your polar expedition guides lead a small group (typically 8–12 guests) across tundra, moraine, and river crossings into the vast wilderness valleys radiating from the main fjord. The scale of Scoresby Sund becomes apparent only on foot: 500-metre vertical cliff walls plunge to valley floors strewn with boulders deposited by retreating glaciers, and the silence is absolute except for the wind and the occasional bark of an Arctic fox. Expect 12–18 km of varied terrain, remarkable geological formations, and the very real possibility of encountering musk oxen face-to-face.
Good to know
Suitable for guests with good physical fitness and hiking experience. Sturdy waterproof hiking boots, gaiters, and wind-resistant layering are essential. Trekking poles recommended. Allow a full 6–8 hours ashore; confirm all-aboard carefully. Weather and ice conditions can alter the route.
