Hike to Dominica's volcanic Boiling Lake — the world's second-largest actively boiling lake — through the otherworldly Valley of Desolation, with fumaroles, hot springs, and primordial jungle on all sides. This is the most dramatic and demanding natural experience in the entire Eastern Caribbean.
What to expect
The 13 km round-trip traverses Dominica's Morne Trois Pitons National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site blanketed in some of the last untouched rainforest in the Caribbean. The Valley of Desolation stuns with bubbling mud pools and steam vents before the final climb reveals the churning grey-blue lake — a genuinely awe-inspiring geological spectacle. Guides prepare a hot lunch at a riverside rest point. Return to Roseau Cruise Terminal typically by 4 PM.
