Step inside the beautifully preserved home and studio of Albrecht Dürer, Germany's greatest Renaissance master, and discover the city that shaped his genius. An intimate, culturally rich experience in one of Europe's finest medieval townhouses.
What to expect
You'll move through four floors of the half-timbered townhouse where Dürer lived and worked from 1509 until his death in 1528, taking in his reconstructed studio, the period kitchen, and an exceptional collection of reproductions and original artifacts. An actress portraying Agnes Dürer (his wife) may greet you on certain days, adding a theatrical, immersive dimension. The house sits at the foot of the Imperial Castle, in the most picturesque quarter of the Old Town. Your guide contextualises Dürer's legacy — his influence on European art, his mathematical treatises, his friendship with emperors — making this far more than a tick-box attraction.
