Board a catamaran at Praia dos Carneiros — a near-deserted coconut-fringed beach south of Recife — to anchor over translucent natural pools where warm Atlantic water meets a coral reef. One of Brazil's most achingly beautiful and uncrowded beach days.
What to expect
The journey south from Recife port takes roughly two hours, arriving at Carneiros in time for the morning tide. The Bora Bora catamaran glides out to the natural pools where you can snorkel, swim or simply drift in the warm, gin-clear shallows. The reef here is remarkably intact, with sea turtles occasionally spotted in deeper water. A beachside lunch of freshly caught fish, farofa and ice-cold coconut water follows before an afternoon return. En route, the driver often stops at a roadside açaí stall — the perfect finale.
Good to know
The experience runs approximately 8 hours, so confirm your port's all-aboard time before booking — an early morning departure is essential. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and a dry bag. Book the catamaran slot in advance, especially during high season (December–March), as spaces are limited.
