Conquer Monte Verde — São Vicente's volcanic crown at 750 m — for a 360° panorama stretching across the island, the deep blue Atlantic, and neighbouring Santo Antão on a clear day. Untamed, wild, and utterly unforgettable.
What to expect
Your guide collects you from Mindelo port and drives to the trailhead on Monte Verde's lower slopes, where the vegetation transitions from arid scrub to surprising green cloud forest — the island's name ('Green Mountain') earns its truth. The ascent is moderately challenging (approx. 2–3 hours return) but every switchback delivers a more breathtaking view. At the summit, inter-island panoramas are extraordinary. A picnic of local cheeses, grogue spirit, and fresh fruit marks the achievement before the descent.
Good to know
Half-day, approximately 4–5 hours including transfers from port. Wear proper hiking footwear and bring a light windproof layer — the summit can be breezy and cloud-wrapped even on warm days. Go early for the clearest skies and best light.
