Step into primary Atlantic Rainforest minutes from the port on a private guided ascent of Atalaia Hill — Itajaí's secret viewpoint — for sweeping panoramas over the river, ocean, and city. Rare wildlife, wild orchids, and silence: the antidote to sea days.
What to expect
Your guide meets you portside and walks you into the park — an extraordinary patch of Mata Atlântica preserved within the city limits. The trail winds uphill through dense canopy where toucans, marmosets, and brightly coloured butterflies are frequent companions. At the summit, a panoramic platform delivers a 360° view: the Itajaí River snaking to the sea, the port below, and forested ridges to the horizon. The descent follows a quieter trail through orchid-dotted undergrowth back to the park gate.
Good to know
The park gate is approx. 15 min by taxi from the port (BRL 20–25). Wear closed-toe shoes and bring insect repellent. Best done in the morning before heat peaks. The full guided experience takes 2.5–3 hours, making it excellent for ships with shorter port calls.
