Journey by traditional outrigger to a living coastal village in Milne Bay, witness the ancient mastery of canoe carving, share a ceremonial feast, and connect with one of Melanesia's proudest seafaring cultures. Rare, intimate, and profoundly moving.
What to expect
A local guide escorts your small group by traditional outrigger canoe across the sheltered bay to a coastal Milne Bay village. Village elders welcome you with a brief ceremony before master carvers demonstrate the techniques passed down through generations of the famous Kula Ring traders. You'll try your hand at paddle carving and weaving, then sit down to a shared feast of fresh reef fish, taro, and coconut prepared over open fire. A final exchange of small gifts closes the visit with warmth and grace.
