Conquer Dravuni's dramatic ridgeline for a 360° panorama of the Kadavu Archipelago — volcanic islands, reef-fringed lagoons, and open Pacific in every direction. The best view in all of Fiji, earned on foot.
What to expect
The trail begins just beyond the village and climbs steeply through dense tropical vegetation — wild frangipani, banana palms, and hibiscus lining the path. The ascent takes roughly 30–40 minutes at a comfortable pace, and every turn reveals a more spectacular sliver of lagoon below. At the summit, the full sweep of the Great Astrolabe Reef stretches to the horizon, the ship a tiny white speck in a theatre of blue. Your guide points out neighbouring islands by name and shares oral histories of the Kadavu people. The descent is swift, leaving ample time for the beach.
Good to know
Wear proper trail shoes — the path is rocky and can be slippery if wet. Start the hike early (within the first hour of tendering ashore) to beat the midday heat and secure maximum beach time afterwards. Carry water. Total round-trip time: 1.5–2 hours.
