Kvåsfossen Waterfall & Lyngdal Salmon Centre: Nature's Grand Theatre

Stand beside the thundering Kvåsfossen waterfall and watch wild Atlantic salmon leap metres into the air on their ancient migration — one of nature's most spectacular sights. Pair it with a visit to the acclaimed Lyngdal Salmon Centre for the full story.

What to expect

A short drive from the port brings you to Kvåsfossen, where the Lygna river narrows and drops dramatically. In season (July–September), the viewing platforms are perfectly positioned over the falls, and the sight of metre-long salmon hurling themselves skyward is genuinely breathtaking. The adjacent Salmon Centre features beautifully designed interactive exhibits on the Lygna ecosystem, the salmon's Atlantic journey and the river's storied angling heritage. Staff are knowledgeable and passionate — plan on at least an hour inside.
