Journey 6 km east to Lumbarda — the only place on Earth where the rare indigenous Grk white grape grows — for a private cellar tour and guided tasting of Korčula's celebrated Pošip and Grk wines amid centuries-old stone terraces.
What to expect
A short taxi or private transfer drops you in Lumbarda's sun-drenched village, where Bire's fourth-generation family welcomes you into a working stone winery. You'll taste through four to six wines — crisp, mineral Pošip; the rare, full-bodied Grk (a grape that exists only here); and possibly a limited-release reserve. Paired with local prosciutto, sheep's cheese, and olive oil, the tasting is as much a lesson in Dalmatian terroir as it is a pleasure. The vineyard terrace looks back across the bay to Korčula's medieval skyline.
Good to know
Arrange a private transfer from the pier (approx. EUR 20 return by taxi) or rent a bicycle for a scenic 30-minute ride. Pre-book the tasting directly via the Bire website to ensure the winemaker is present. Allow 2–2.5 hours; leaves ample time before all-aboard.
