Anse des Salines: Martinique's Most Beautiful Beach Day

Consistently ranked among the Caribbean's finest beaches, Anse des Salines is a kilometre of powdery white sand sheltered by coconut palms, lapped by shallow, crystalline turquoise sea — the definitive Martinique beach experience.

What to expect

Your guide collects you at the Fort-de-France pier and heads south through the island's most dramatic coastline, stopping at the lunar landscape of Savane des Pétrifications before arriving at Anse des Salines. Two to three hours on the beach allow for a proper swim in the mirror-calm lagoon, a walk along the full arc of sand, and a beachside lunch of accras de morue and fresh lobster at one of the charming ti-punch beach shacks. The return route traces the scenic Sainte-Anne riviera.

Good to know

Salines is 1 hour 15 minutes by road from Fort-de-France — a full-day excursion is essential. Confirm your all-aboard time with your guide at the start of the day; responsible local operators build in a 60-minute buffer. Bring cash (euros) for beach-shack lunches, reef-safe sunscreen, and a beach bag. Hat and sarong are useful — shade is limited at the western end of the beach at midday.
