Spend a blissful day anchored off the legendary shores of Jost Van Dyke, BVI — home of the Soggy Dollar Bar and the birthplace of the Painkiller cocktail — aboard a private crewed catamaran with snorkelling stops at pristine coral gardens. Pure Caribbean fantasy.
What to expect
Your sleek catamaran departs Road Town and reaches Jost Van Dyke's White Bay in roughly 45 minutes — the swim-in Soggy Dollar Bar already glittering across the turquoise shallows. The crew anchors and you wade ashore for the original Painkiller (rum, cream of coconut, pineapple, OJ) invented right here in 1972. After lunch at Foxy's, the catamaran sails on to a secluded snorkel spot where sea turtles graze on staghorn coral. The sail home at sunset, with the BVI silhouettes dissolving into pink and gold, is the perfect close to a perfect day.
Good to know
BVI immigration formalities apply — your charter operator handles clearance paperwork. Depart the dock by 08:30 to maximise time at Jost Van Dyke. Most BVI port calls are Tortola (Road Town) — the catamaran dock is a 5-minute walk from the cruise pier. Pre-book the private charter at least 6–8 weeks ahead in high season (December–April).
