Blast into the narrow, cliff-walled Trollfjord aboard a rigid inflatable boat and drift silently beneath swooping white-tailed sea eagles — among Europe's largest birds of prey. Pure Arctic drama, inches from the rock face.
What to expect
Kitted out in a thermal flotation suit, you thunder out of Svolvær harbour and arc north-east into Trollfjord, whose 2 km of sheer granite walls rise 1,000 metres straight from the water. The skipper cuts speed as white-tailed eagles — wingspans exceeding 2.4 m — wheel overhead and plunge for fish. On the return you skim along the outer Vestfjord, spray in your face and the Lofoten Wall serrating the horizon.
Good to know
Departures run morning and afternoon from the central Svolvær quay, a 2-minute walk from where cruise tenders land. The 2-hour duration fits easily within a port day. Thermal suits are included; book the morning slot for the best eagle activity.
