Plunge beneath the nutrient-rich Cromwell Current upwelling that makes North Seymour's underwater world one of the most biodiverse dive sites in the entire Pacific. Schooling hammerheads, eagle rays, and Galápagos sea lions that torpedo past mid-water are the reward for certified divers.
What to expect
North Seymour's underwater topography — volcanic ridges, sandy channels, and dramatic drop-offs — funnels cold, plankton-rich upwellings that attract pelagic life in extraordinary numbers. Dive one explores the wall and channel where white-tipped reef sharks rest and eagle rays glide in formation. Dive two moves into shallower reef terrain where sea turtles feed on black coral and curious sea lions dart through visibility that regularly exceeds 20 metres. Scuba Iguana's small-boat format (8–10 divers maximum) ensures personal attention throughout.
Good to know
Open Water certification (or above) required; advanced certification recommended for the deeper channel dive. Book at least 2–3 days ahead as permits for diving at North Seymour are strictly limited by the National Park. Minimum two-dive commitment. Allow 3–4 hours total surface time before any flight.
