Slip beneath the surface off Punta Espinoza and share the water with Galápagos penguins, green sea turtles, and marine iguanas 'flying' underwater — one of the most surreal snorkelling experiences on the planet.
What to expect
The cold Cromwell Current upwelling around Fernandina delivers extraordinary underwater visibility and an abundance of marine life found nowhere else. You'll fin alongside Galápagos penguins darting after fish at astonishing speed, watch green sea turtles graze on algae with serene indifference, and observe marine iguanas descend from the surface, munching algae off the lava reef. White-tipped reef sharks cruise the shallows below. The naturalist guide points out cryptic species — seahorses, nudibranchs, octopus — that the untrained eye would miss entirely.
Good to know
Full snorkel kit (mask, fins, wetsuit) is provided; the water temperature here runs 18–22°C so the wetsuit is essential. Confirm the session fits within your port time — this excursion runs approximately 90 minutes in the water. Not suitable for non-swimmers. Pre-booking essential; slots fill weeks ahead.
