Glide in silence through the Lemaire Channel — Antarctica's most dramatic waterway — flanked by 900-metre cliffs and jewel-blue icebergs. A private Zodiac puts you inches from the ice, at your own pace, with a dedicated polar guide.
What to expect
Your dedicated Zodiac departs before the larger groups, giving you first light on the channel's glassy surface. The guide narrates the geology of the towering Booth Island cliffs and identifies wildlife — Weddell seals, crabeater seals, humpback whales — in real time. You may cut your engine entirely and simply listen to the crack and groan of ancient glacial ice. The scale of the icebergs, some the size of apartment blocks, is genuinely awe-inspiring at water level.
Good to know
Book the private Zodiac upgrade directly with Quark at the pre-expedition briefing or in advance via your expedition coordinator. Weather windows in the Lemaire are narrow — activity typically runs 06:00–10:00 before afternoon winds pick up. All-aboard times are set per itinerary; your guide tracks timing. Drysuits or expedition outerwear are provided.
