Glide through Milford Sound's cathedral-scale fiord walls, past Stirling and Lady Bowen Falls, on a small-group cruise where every deck rail has an unobstructed view. This is New Zealand's single most iconic landscape moment — bucket-list by definition.
What to expect
Board at Milford Sound wharf and cruise the full 22 km fiord to the Tasman Sea and back — a 2-hour journey past 1,200-metre granite cliffs draped in silver waterfalls. Resident pods of Bottlenose dolphins frequently bow-ride the vessel, and New Zealand fur seals bask on Cathedral Rocks. The underwater observatory lowers you 10 metres below the surface where rare black coral thrives in the tannin-dark water. On return, the light shifts and Mitre Peak's reflection fills the entire bow.
