Stand inches from the world's most celebrated illuminated manuscript — the 9th-century Book of Kells — then wander the Long Room, one of the world's most magnificent baroque libraries. A true once-in-a-lifetime encounter with Irish civilisation.
What to expect
You enter the darkened Treasury where the Book of Kells lies open under glass — each page an explosion of interlaced Celtic knotwork and vivid pigment. Ascending to the Long Room, a cathedral of knowledge 65 metres long, you encounter ancient Irish harps and Brian Boru's harp (Ireland's national symbol). The pace is entirely yours, so you can linger at the cases that captivate you most. Emerging into the cobblestoned Fellows Square, the full weight of 430 years of Trinity history settles around you.
