Float effortlessly down the island's largest freshwater creek, then step back 5,000 years in an ancient cathedral rainforest — two unmissable K'gari experiences in one unforgettable morning.
What to expect
Eli Creek pumps nine million litres of crystal-clear water into the ocean every hour; floating its boardwalk-lined course is as gentle as it is mesmerising. The water is cold, gin-clear, and irresistibly inviting. Central Station, a short 4WD ride away, is the island's former forestry headquarters, now reclaimed by a dense sub-tropical rainforest. Towering satinay pines and strangler figs create a living cathedral overhead, while freshwater fish dart through Wanggoolba Creek below a glass-clear surface. Your guide brings the ecosystem's complexity to life with stories of the island's indigenous Butchulla people.
Good to know
Both sites are included in the Fraser Tours all-day itinerary. Wear shoes you don't mind getting wet at Eli Creek. The rainforest walk is flat and accessible; comfortable walking sandals are fine.
