Mount Lulu Fakahega Summit Hike: Wallis's Highest Panorama

Trek the jungle spine of Wallis to the 151 m summit of Mount Lulu Fakahega for a 360° view across the lagoon, barrier reef, and open Pacific that justifies every step. On a clear morning, the horizon stretches to Futuna, 200 km away.

What to expect

Your guide meets you at the pier and drives to the trailhead at the island's volcanic interior. The ascent through dense hibiscus and pandanus forest takes roughly 90 minutes at a comfortable luxury pace, with frequent stops to identify endemic flora and birdlife. The summit clears to a broad platform where the full geometry of the barrier reef — cobalt channels, jade lagoon, white-sand motus — unfolds below you. Your guide shares the oral history of the mountain's role in Wallis's inter-tribal navigation. Cold coconut water and seasonal fruit await at the top.

Good to know

Start early (7:30–8:00 am) to reach the summit before midday heat and haze. Wear lightweight trail shoes and bring a hat and reef-safe insect repellent. The round trip is approx. 3–4 hours; confirm all-aboard time before booking. Suitable for moderate fitness levels.
