Witness the ancient Naghol ceremony — men leap from 20–30m bamboo towers with only vines tied to their ankles. The spiritual birthplace of bungee jumping, this is one of the most viscerally extraordinary rituals on the planet.
What to expect
Your day begins with a chartered flight over Vanuatu's emerald interior, landing close to the ceremonial site in South Pentecost. Village elders welcome you with chants and explain the spiritual significance of each dive before the ceremony begins. You watch, transfixed, as men climb ever higher — some near the top of the 30-metre tower — and launch themselves in a freefall of faith. The crack of flexing vines and the diver's shoulders grazing the earth is a moment that stays with you for life.
Good to know
Naghol season runs April to June only — confirm your cruise date falls within this window before booking. Pick-up is at 07:30 with drop-off around 15:30, well within typical all-aboard times. Pre-book well in advance as places are strictly limited. Modest, respectful dress is required at the ceremonial village.
