Reach the island of Capri by private speedboat, glide inside the electric-blue sea cave of the Grotta Azzurra, and climb to the ruins of Emperor Tiberius's clifftop palace. Capri at its most cinematic and most exclusive.
What to expect
Your private speedboat departs from Naples or Sorrento and cuts across the bay in under an hour, arriving at Capri's Marina Grande before the crowds. The Blue Grotto visit involves transferring to a traditional rowboat; as you enter the low cave arch, the entire chamber ignites in an otherworldly cobalt luminescence caused by light refracting through an underwater opening. Back on your speedboat, the skipper circles the iconic Faraglioni rock arches — a classic Italian Riviera moment. Ashore, Villa Jovis rewards a 45-minute uphill walk with jaw-dropping cliffside ruins and panoramas stretching to the Pontine Islands.
Good to know
Blue Grotto can be closed in rough seas or high tides — your skipper will advise on the day. Book the speedboat charter at least 3–4 weeks ahead in summer. From Naples cruise terminal, a water taxi or ferry also reaches Capri in 40–80 min if preferred. Allow a full day to combine boat, grotto, and Villa Jovis.
