Just 2 km from the port, the fairy-tale Château de Keriolet is a jaw-dropping Neo-Gothic manor gifted by a Russian princess to the Breton people. Rated 4.3 stars, its ornate salons, period furnishings, and romantic parkland make it one of the least-discovered château gems in all of France.
What to expect
The château was rebuilt in flamboyant Neo-Gothic style in the 1860s by a Russian aristocrat who fell in love with Brittany — and with a local nobleman. Guided tours move through opulent salons dripping with carved Kersanton stone, hand-painted ceilings, and original Russian imperial furnishings. The parkland beyond is all ancient oaks and secret pathways, with the sound of the Atlantic just over the hedgerows. It is, in every sense, the Brittany that most visitors never find.
