The wild Atlantic coastline around Concarneau is made for sea-kayaking: granite sea-stacks, secret coves, and the white-sand sweep of Sables Blancs beach. A guided small-group sea-kayak excursion puts you right in the drama of the Cornouaille coastline with expert local paddlers.
What to expect
You launch from the sheltered bay beside Sables Blancs — the 'White Sands Beach' — and paddle south along a coastline of pink-grey granite sculpted by millennia of Atlantic swells. Your guide points out nesting seabirds, seals resting on ledges, and, on a clear day, the Glénan archipelago shimmering on the horizon. The return paddle gives you a seaward view of the Ville Close ramparts rising from the water that is, simply, one of the great coastal sights of France.
Good to know
Sables Blancs is a 15-minute walk or 5-minute taxi from the pier along the corniche. No prior kayaking experience required. Book directly with the local nautical centre in advance; morning sessions are best for calm water and light. Bring a change of clothes.
