Allman Brothers Band Museum at the Big House: Rock Pilgrimage

The rambling Tudor Revival mansion where the Allman Brothers Band lived and created their legend is now a world-class rock-music museum. Original instruments, hand-written lyrics, backstage photography, and personal artefacts make this the definitive shrine to Southern rock.

What to expect

You arrive at the iconic red-brick house on Vineville Avenue and are greeted by a guide steeped in Allman Brothers lore. The ground floor feels frozen in the early 1970s — mismatched furniture, psychedelic posters, Duane Allman's slide guitar under glass. Upstairs, intimate rooms reveal the human story: the handwritten notes, the tour diaries, the photographs of friendships forged and tragedies survived. The final gallery, featuring original stage equipment, delivers a visceral sense of the band's live power.
