Paddle silently through the Saône river floodplain — one of France's most biodiverse wetland corridors — with a naturalist guide who reveals otters, purple herons, and kingfishers in their undisturbed habitat.
What to expect
Launch from the riverbank within walking distance of the Seurre quay and paddle into the bras morts — the oxbow lakes and still backwaters that define this UNESCO-designated natural zone. The guide narrates the ecology as you drift under curtains of willow, spotting great white egrets and beavers that have re-colonised the Saône since the 1990s. The pace is easy and the boats are stable sit-on-top kayaks suited to all fitness levels; no prior experience required. A rest stop on a shaded gravel bank with local fruit and Burgundy water (and the optional glass of Aligoté) concludes the paddle.
Good to know
Departing directly from Seurre — zero transit time. Wear light, quick-dry clothes and bring sun protection; the Saône floodplain is exposed at midday. Half-day sessions run 8:30–12:30 or 14:00–18:00, fitting neatly around most all-aboard times. Book at least one week ahead.
