Follow Ernest Hemingway's footsteps through Havana — his preserved hilltop estate Finca Vigía, his beloved fishing marina at Cojímar, and the storied bar where the mojito was born. A literary pilgrimage unlike any other.
What to expect
Your guide picks you up at the terminal and drives to San Francisco de Paula, where Hemingway's whitewashed estate crowns a hill above Havana. You peer through the open windows at his desk and fishing trophies, then continue to the waterfront village of Cojímar where 'The Old Man and the Sea' was written. The tour ends in Old Havana at La Bodeguita del Medio, ordering mojitos and signing the wall.
Good to know
Finca Vigía is 12 km southeast of the port; allow 4–5 hrs total. Pre-book the private guide through Havanatur at least 10 days in advance. Estate viewing is from outside windows — interiors are preserved exactly as left. Wear light clothing; hilltop gardens are exposed to sun.
