Trace the Wachau's legendary apricot groves and boutique Grüner Veltliner vineyards on a private half-day tour with a local wine expert. Taste wines with UNESCO World Heritage terroir steps from where they were grown.
What to expect
A chauffeured transfer winds through apricot-blossomed terraces (in season) to the estate's historic cellar in Dürnstein or Loiben. The cellar master walks you through the estate's Grüner Veltliner and Riesling cuvées, explaining how the valley's microclimate produces wines of extraordinary finesse. Seasonal apricot products — schnapps, jam, preserves — are paired alongside. The setting, with Danube views and vineyard silence, is deeply romantic and utterly Wachau.
Good to know
Pre-arrange the estate visit directly by email well in advance — Knoll and other top estates (Hirtzberger, Prager) are small-production and do not always take walk-ins. A private transfer from Melk dock to Dürnstein takes approximately 20–25 minutes. Apricot season peaks June–July; wines are poured year-round. Allow 2–3 hours total and confirm return timing against your ship's all-aboard.
