Pedal the most celebrated cycling road in Japan — the Shimanami Kaidō — a 70 km ribbon of dedicated cycle paths that island-hops across the Seto Inland Sea on six suspension bridges. The views from each bridge tower are once-in-a-lifetime.
What to expect
You begin at the Giant flagship store in Onomichi, fitted to a precision road or e-bike, before rolling onto the first of six island-hopping bridges. From the deck of the Tatara Bridge — one of the longest suspension bridges in the world — the Inland Sea spreads out in every direction, dotted with tankers and fishing boats. A private guide ensures you stop at hidden citrus groves, local temples, and the famous Sunset Loop lookout on Ōshima Island. The route ends with a cold local beer and a ferry back to your port.
Good to know
Select your start port carefully — Onomichi (western end) and Imabari (eastern end) are the classic poles. E-bikes strongly recommended for non-cyclists or those doing partial routes. This excursion suits active, moderately fit passengers; partial segments of 15–30 km are easily arranged. Confirm all-aboard time and ferry return schedule with your guide at booking.
