Fish for red-bellied piranhas with handlines in a remote Amazon creek, then grill your catch over an open fire for lunch — before a guided caiman search as the sun drops and the river comes alive.
What to expect
Your private skiff winds away from the main channel into a narrow igarapé creek, the canopy closing overhead until the river is little wider than a country lane. You drop simple handlines baited with raw meat and within minutes feel the savage tug of a piranha — their reputation fully earned. Your guide fillets the best of the catch and grills it over riverside coals with manioc and lime while you swim in a caiman-checked pool. As evening light turns the river to copper, you board a silent paddle canoe for the caiman search — the guide's spotlight catching glowing orange eyes resting motionless at the water's edge just metres away.
