Oholei Beach & Hina Cave: Private Feast on the Coral Coast

Spend a luminous full-day at Tonga's most spectacular private coral-cliff beach, swim through the sea-carved Hina Cave, and feast on a traditional Tongan umu buffet — an immersive, end-to-end cultural spectacle on the island's wild south coast.

What to expect

A short scenic drive south of Nuku'alofa delivers you to Oholei Beach Resort, perched dramatically atop coral cliffs above a turquoise crescent of sand. You descend to the beach and snorkel the luminous shallows before your guide leads you through the sea cave of Hina — an arched cathedral of coral rock where legend says the moon goddess dwells. Back above the cliffs, a lavish traditional umu lunch awaits: slow-cooked suckling pig, taro, lu pulu, and tropical fruits served with cold coconut water. The afternoon is yours to laze on sun loungers, swim, or explore the clifftop gardens before the return drive to the wharf.
