Journey north along Espiritu Santo's jungle-fringed coast to Port Olry — a remote Francophone fishing village with a beach so perfect it rivals Champagne Bay itself. Share a traditional Ni-Vanuatu lunch with locals and swim in total seclusion.
What to expect
A private air-conditioned 4WD tracks north through coconut plantations and traditional villages, passing roadside markets and sacred banyan groves. Port Olry's sweeping bay reveals itself suddenly — a kilometre of untouched white sand lapped by water so clear you can see the bottom at five metres depth. Lunch is prepared by local women: fresh-caught fish, laplap (the national dish of grated root vegetable cooked in banana leaves), and tropical fruit. After lunch, wade the shallows, snorkel the reef, or simply sit under a palm and appreciate that almost nobody knows this place exists.
Good to know
The drive from the pier is approximately 45–60 minutes each way on unsealed roads — a 4WD is essential after rain. Allow a full 7–8 hours for this excursion; confirm with your driver that they monitor the ship's departure closely. Cash for small purchases and tips is appreciated.
