Jost Van Dyke Beach Bar Crawl by Private Charter: BVI

Charter a private powerboat to Jost Van Dyke and settle into the legendary Foxy's and Soggy Dollar Bar — birthplace of the Painkiller cocktail — on one of the Caribbean's most characterful and unspoiled islands. Pure, unhurried island soul.

What to expect

Your skipper navigates the Sir Francis Drake Channel — one of the world's great sailing passages — to White Bay, where you anchor 50 metres off the beach. Wade ashore to the Soggy Dollar Bar and mix your Painkiller (rum, coconut cream, pineapple, orange juice) exactly as the original recipe demands. The vibe is barefoot sophistication — hammocks strung between palms, local musicians drifting past, the water the colour of liquid tourmaline. Foxy's Tamarind Bar follows for grilled lobster and Foxy's own brew before the golden-hour sail home.

Good to know

BVI entry requires a valid passport; ensure your documents are in order ahead of departure. The Moorings operates out of Road Town, Tortola — arrange private transfer from your port of call. Book the charter weeks in advance, especially in high season (December–April). Confirm all-aboard time with your ship — allow a minimum 90-minute buffer for the return passage.
